Robert Sharp's Gulf Mobile & Ohio Railway
Robert Sharp's GM&O Railroad started out as an Atlas track plan "Berkshire Valley" project for his grandchildren. It evolved into a Gulf, Mobile, and Ohio pike, set in Meridian, Mississippi in the 1960s. The town of Meridian is at the far end of the seen below. Robert's pike includes DCC operations and the layout has a helix that leads to staging (part of which can be seen under the benchwork at the left). The layout now has full scenery.
At left, a train takes the curve toward Front Street, a very busy part of the layout. Area residents enjoy watching the near constant flow of trains at the local Meridian Hotel or from nearby shop windows. Below, a local is seen running up the grade at Heidelberg.
