Creating Blankets – "Project Linus"
During the 2015 NMRA National Convention at Portland, OR , over 30 blankets were produced on-site and donated through the Project Linus ( LINK ) program. We will continue that effort during the Highball To Indy 2016 convention.
The Project Linus effort is supported this year by the Hamilton County chapter, based in Always in Stitches, a quilting, fabric, and yarn shop in Noblesville, IN. In 2015, Always In Stitches received news that they were one of the 10 best shops in the nation and were featured in the Fall/Winter 2015 edition of Better Homes and Gardens Quilt Sampler magazine. They will be providing 6 Janome sewing machines during the week of the convention. They have invited the women to visit their shop. In the shop, they have two classrooms - one large and one small. They offer wonderful classes for all types of quilting. This would make a perfect self-guided tour. To get to the shop in Noblesville, it takes about 40-45 minutes from the Westin Hotel.
Note: The Project Linus program is featured on the NMRA national convention video series, #09 on the Non-Rail Program (fast forward to the 1 minute, 45 second mark):
