Tim Gavenstreter enjoys model trains . . . which is why he has multiple layouts in his home. Pictured are several scenes from his N-scale and HO-scale pikes. He also is working on an O-gauge construction diorama: basically a 2.5' x 4' static diorama that features the early construction phase of a mid-rise building. The display features many 1:50-scale die cast construction models.
Here are some details about the layouts at his home.
Right: N-Gauge layout: a 4' x 8' layout that was featured 26-years ago in the Sunday Indianapolis Star newspaper. The layout includes three scale-miles of track, including an elevated rapid transit line. Single mainline is approx. one mile long. Prototype is loosely based on eastern Pennsylvania (Delaware River Valley), with urban and suburban city scenes, and light industry.
Right and below: HO-Gauge Steel Mill: a 5.5' x 8' modular layout that features a blast furnace, electric furnace, rolling mill, coke battery, two power plants, car shop & other railroad and mill-related structures.
HO-Gauge Cityscape: a 1.5' x 4' static diorama that features four high & mid-rise buildings in front, and others behind elevated Rapid Transit tracks.
